……………………………………………………

Ashley Macias is a downtown Phoenix-based artist who says her work displays several elements
from our natural environment, bringing awareness to the things we think, feel, and imagine.
Macias describes her techniques in bold line work as inspired by the natural raw
organic flow in plants, the aging of people, and a deeper conscious or visionary realm.

Listed as one of Phoenix New Times 100 Creatives, one of Macias most recent works was with the City of Scottsdale,
creating public art for their Scottsdale Waterfront, as part of “Everything Flows – Twilight Transition Performance”.
Macias painted both dancers and cut-out wood forms to display the human form and water merging into one.

1SPOT GALLERY REPPIN @ THE HEARD MUSEUM –
NORTH SCOTTSDALE

1Spot Gallery was invited to sit on a panel discussion with prolific artist Thomas Greyeyes and the exceptional and talented Jeff Slim
to speak about
contemporary Native American art, young artists and leaders in the American Indian arts, and share about the changes
occurring in the field at Heard Museum’s North Scottsdale location this past Wednesday, February 12th, 2014.

Much gratitude to the wonderful Jaclyn Roessel for inviting us to take part of this important conversation at the Heard Museum, as we collectively create bridges to a dynamic and versatile representation of what Native American art is today!
